Brain Health and Ginseng

I have long heard about the benefits of Ginseng for improving something, but I can’t remember what it was… Ha, ha, ha! Just a little memory joke there! Ginseng has been long admired for many health benefits, including boosting your memory. This article from Designs for Health has some fascinating information about research into a specific type of Ginseng (American Ginseng) and it’s potential for improving cognitive function. This is especially interesting in light of the fact that… … More Brain Health and Ginseng

Happy New Year!

I did not post anything least week. In the interest of “peace on earth” I refrained from posting. With 2018 in full swing, I thought we’d start out the new year with something to help you accomplish at least one of your New Years resolutions. To exercise or get in better shape! This is a simple challenge from our friends at WebExercises and encompasses a 4 week challenge … More Happy New Year!

’tis the season to be “snotty”

Last week, I shared info on some great acupressure points on the ear. I told you how I had started to feel a little congested and the sinus and throat point opened me up. Well, unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and a full-on cold virus infection ensued. Sometimes doctors take the worst care of themselves and I’ve just been dealing with the symptoms of this infection and not doing anything about it. When I read this excellent article this morning from Forbes Middle East, it reminded me of how important it is for me to get adjusted regularly … More ’tis the season to be “snotty”

Easy Reflexology/ Acupressure

I am so impressed by how “little” things can make such a BIG difference in our lives. As a chiropractor, I get to see big changes in my patients from just the small things I do for them in the office. We see even bigger changes when the patients do exercises, or other activities that I have taught them to do, on their own. I love things like in this video below from Ayurveda by Curejoy. The video shows several simple acupressure points on the ear, that you can activate with a basic clothespin, to provide relief of symptoms in various parts of your body. I was having a lot of sinus congestion and post-nasal drip irritating my throat. I just held … More Easy Reflexology/ Acupressure

Goodbye Movember

Well, Movember is over and Christmas is just around the corner. I did pretty well with my beard growth, resisting the temptation to trim (even around the lips). As promised, here are some pictures of my beard in all of its glory. I know I’m not much to look at, but the beard turned out pretty good. I have also learned that there are some ways to raise money during Movember, to help raise awareness of men’s health issues. The Movember Foundation has a website where … More Goodbye Movember

Thank You Gold’s Gym

I had a great time last night at Gold’s Gym Arcadia! I began a marketing campaign their this month. My ad is being shown on the 20+ screens in the gym, I have my rack cards on display in the lounge area, and once or twice a month I get to be in the gym to promote my practice. I spent 3+ hours there last night demonstrating IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) vs traditional Massage. I met a lot of great people and was able to demonstrate the technique on many of them. Check out … More Thank You Gold’s Gym

Happy Mo-vember

In keeping with the tradition of recent years, I am letting my November beard grow. I’ll be posting some pics at the end of the month. One of the reasons behind this men’s movement is to promote awareness of health issues men face. One of these is prostate health. Two big concerns, especially for older men are Prostate Cancer and BPH (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy) which can cause, among other things, the excessive need to urinate. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) … More Happy Mo-vember

Adrenaline Fatigue?

Your adrenal glands sit atop your kidneys and you probably don’t think about them much. You may know some of the facts, like that they produce adrenaline and cortisol, but you may not know that the adrenal glands contribute to your body’s overall health by releasing hormones that are essential for you to live. One important hormone is aldosterone, which helps the body maintain the right balance of … More Adrenaline Fatigue?

Another clue to Dementia/ Alzheimer’s

To tie into our recent posts on Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia we are sharing an article addressing “Digital Dementia” and how research is showing that our modern reliance on technology is causing issues with learning and memory.

“Spitzer suggests the ability to Google information, and store information and multitask with digital devices has reduced the ability to memorize, lowered concentration, and … More Another clue to Dementia/ Alzheimer’s
