There is no simple answer for how often you need to see your chiropractor. A lot depends on your specific issue and your response to treatment. One thing I have noticed in my practice, however, is that the patients who come in more frequently, improve more quickly than those who come less often. I will usually recommend a more frequent visit schedule in the beginning stages of treatment, 3 times per week for instance, and then reduce the frequency as the patient improves (2 times per week, 1 time per week, every other week, and so on). Today is the very last day of Movember and as you can see, I did grow a pretty decent beard. I had always thought that the whole Mo-vember thing was just an excuse for guys to not have to shave. It wasn’t until 2 years ago when I did my first Movember posts (Happy Mo-vember and Goodbye Movember) that I learned there was more to it than I thought. After several people liked and commented on my posts, I started looking at what they were posting and bloging. What I found was that Movember is a movement to raise awareness for men’s health issues. Check out Movember.com for excellent information on this movement. Among the most serious issues are prostate, colon, and testicular cancers. Some of these are preventable by just getting screened. Breathing is an essential function for life; if you stop breathing for long enough, you stop living. Yet, not only is breathing important, but your method or manner of breathing is crucial too. In many country’s health practices, breath training is an integral element; such as in Ayurveda, Yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong, and most martial arts. However, in the United States, we don’t really think or talk much about it. Certainly no one teaches us “how” to breathe (unless they are trained in and/or teaching one of these practices). In my church, we are encouraged to fast (or refrain from eating and drinking) for a 24 hour period once a month. Generally, we hold this fast on the first Sunday of the month and each person can chose to participate or not. We do this for spiritual reasons, but the research in recent years have confirmed that there are definite health benefits from periodic fasting.
There are many ways to fast and lots of variety in the actual thing that is abstained from. Over the years, chiropractors have worked hard to educate the medical community and the public about what we do and the health benefits of chiropractic care. Recently, there have been research findings to backup the anecdotal evidence, including quite a few studies showing the efficacy of chiropractic care for treating low back pain specifically.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to give a short presentation to some of the youth from our church. These young men meet together one evening a week to learn, serve, and have fun together. Why does my shoulder hurt?
Lately, I’ve been seeing a number of patients with shoulder pain. I am not what you would call a “Sports Chiropractor”, but I have found myself with a lot of patients who have sports related injuries/ conditions. These are not professional athletes, but people who exercise/ workout on a regular basis. They come in with neck & back pain, hip pain, knee pain, foot pain, hand/ wrist pain, elbow pain, and shoulder pain.
